Satoshi’s Daemon Galloping
Satoshi’s Daemon galloped on the race track for the first time today. Our trainer put blinkers on her, which limits her peripheral vision and forces her to focus on what is in front of her. This is not uncommon. You will see horses racing with blinkers on every day in almost every race.
Young horses in training tend to throw their heads up and want to look around, which is not productive when they are training or racing. As she matures and progresses, she may not require blinkers.
The exercise rider also had to use the whip to encourage Satoshi a bit. The whip is a teaching tool in training, but the use will slowly diminish as she learns to respond to verbal and rider body language commands.
She is ahead of where we anticipated she would be at this point, but the key above all is to stay healthy. We do not want to push her too hard too fast, as the slightest injury could only extend the timeline to her first race.
She will continue to train at Traders Rest Farm , but for now she is taking it all in stride and progressing nicely.
